Human Sciences

Human Sciences is one of Oxford’s fantastic contemporary courses and is a breath of fresh air compared to some of the more traditional courses. The subject has been offered at Oxford since 1969 in recognition of the need for a more interdisciplinary approach to the biological, social and cultural aspects of human life, but gives more of a Scientific or Biological flavour than an anthropology course. Central topics include the evolution of humans, their behaviour, molecular and population genetics, population growth and ageing, ethnic and cultural diversity and the human interaction with the environment, including conservation, disease and nutrition.
